Scotch on the Rocks is a luxury 5 bedroom villa, resting on Ocho Rios' beautiful Sandy Bay, only five minutes from the town center.
From the outside in, Scotch on the Rocks captures Jamaica's beauty and laid-back vibe. Set amid a brightly colored tropical garden, the villa's turquoise exterior walls mirror the brilliance of the Caribbean Sea. Inside, the villa's clean and fresh décor, tastefully accented with Jamaican mahogany furniture, travertine tile floors, intricate fretwork, Caribbean art, and Chinese accessories, create a relaxed atmosphere, sure to soothe the soul.

The name "Scotch on the Rocks" reflects both the villa's history and location. Sitting on the rocks just above the Caribbean Sea, "Scotch on the Rocks" was originally owned by a Scottish Lord. In the 1980s, the Earl of Mansfield sold the house to a Jamaican family, renowned for founding Red Stripe Beer. Today, Scotch on the Rocks is still owned by members of that family.

"Scotchie," as the villa is affectionately called, is ideal for family vacations or romantic getaways. The villa is extremely private and has a full staff of four, including a cook, waiter, butler and housekeeper. The two-storey villa has 5 bedrooms and 5 full bathrooms. All bedrooms have air-conditioning, travertine tiled full bathrooms, mahogany or travertine floors, antique Jamaican furniture, and flat screen televisions with cable TV/DVD. Each bedroom is luxurious and comfortable with fine bed linens, plush duvets and down pillows.

The three upstairs bedrooms each have a private verandah, overlooking the Caribbean Sea or tropical garden. There is a king size bed in the master bedroom and a queen size bed in each of the remaining upstairs bedrooms. The villa's first floor has a T.V. room/ living room, dining room, kitchen and two verandas, each with a view of the sea.

The verandas are the heart of the villa. The main veranda flows onto an expansive wooden deck that looks out onto the breadth of Sandy Bay. The Adirondack style chairs on the deck are a perfect place to relax, sip on a cool drink and watch boats and seabirds sail along the horizon.

Resting on the pristine Sandy Bay, Scotch on the Rocks is a swimmer's paradise. In between the villa's two verandas is a fresh water swimming pool. Plush, wooden sun-chairs line the edge of the pool, perfect for sun tanning or taking in the expansive view of the bay. A short walk down stairs from the pool deck leads to Caribbean Sea and the villa's private wooden pier and gazebo. Standing on the edge of the pier, the gazebo offers a respite from the sun in the day, and a romantic spot to watch the sunset in the afternoon. Beside the pier is a shallow, sandy alcove that gives easy access to the sea. The sea in the bay is like a large swimming pool. Protected by a reef, the water is so clear that on a calm day you can see the sandy bottom without using goggles.

Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Scotchie's newly landscaped garden bursts with exotic, tropical flowers and orchids. Beside the breakfast patio is an "orchid run" of vibrant Vanda orchids while purple Thumbergia flowers grow on vines around the house. In the garden, under the tall, shady trees are inviting "chill out spots" -- hidden hammocks and benches that promise a cool respite and quiet break from the sea and sun.

Scotchie's bay is best explored either by swimming, kayaking or by taking a boat ride with a local fisherman. To the north of the pier is the reef, an ideal snorkeling site with its tropical fish and brightly colored coral. To the east are small, limestone caves with underground fresh water springs that feed into the sea. A short boat ride to the west is the world famous Dunn's River Falls.
