Belmont House sits high atop Buccanneer Hill with spectacular views of Governors Harbour, the sea, and the sunset. This grand historic home dates from the mid-1800s. It has been meticulously restored to retain its original elegance, while enjoying all modern luxuries and conveniences. Belmont House was decorated by a reknowned Italian designer. It features exquisite contemporary furnishings, many custom made, hardwood floors and high ceilings.
Belmont’s façade is dominated by its grand two-story veranda looking out across the harbor. The upstairs features two large bedrooms, each with ocean views and direct access to the veranda, and two large and luxurious full baths. One bedroom has a king bed, and the other has two twins. Relax with a cocktail on the comfortable teak furniture of the grand veranda and enjoy a spectacular, 50-mile, 180-degree ocean and sunset view. You may find it difficult to leave.
On the first floor, Belmont features a large living room and a spacious formal dining room with seating for eight. The modern, airy, peninsula kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, including refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and Bosch oven. The downstairs has a third full bath and a washer and dryer. The large first-floor veranda is a delightful spot, with garden and ocean views.
Amenities at Belmont House include air conditioning, high-speed wireless internet, cable TV, hi-fi stereo, cordless telephone, and off street parking.

The town of Governors Harbour, a two-minute walk down the hill, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors
Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
Walking down the hill in the other direction takes you to French Leave Beach, the finest beach on the island and one of the great beaches of the hemisphere. By foot, it’s less than ten minutes to French Leave, a mile-long crescent of pink sand that is usually deserted. Most visitors to Eleuthera rent a car during their stay, because the island is rural and spread out, and a car is the only practical way to get around. By car, Belmont House is just a minute from French Leave Beach.
