Naturally and artistically designed in a rustic style, accommodations at The Jungle House are 6 rooms in a safe & secure two story, 3400 square foot house built to make you feel intertwined with the natural environment. It feels secluded because we are totally surrounded by big trees, and you can hear the Pacific Ocean. We are one of the few lodging options where you don’t have to walk uphill to get back & forth to the beach and town. And, out the front gate is the lively main street with shops & restaurants.
Jungle House Upstairs
The Jungle House’s upstairs area comes across as and can be made to be its own apartment. It contains a small kitchen, large size and welcoming living room, two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The upstairs can be rented on its own, separate from the house at $899 a week.
The Jungle Suite: The master suite upstairs has a king size bed and its very own full sized bathroom. The room comes with A/C, shares a living room with a sofa and bar area – perfect for those after the beach drinks and has a gorgeous view of palm trees.
The Junior Suite: Comprising of a double bed and half bathroom, kids or friends will find this room comfortable. The room has two ceiling fans to cool off the air but has no A/C. Guests will find private bamboo showers outside too.
Jungle House Downstairs
The downstairs area of the Jungle House contains the main kitchen, dining room, four bedrooms and one bathroom. Everyone downstairs shares the one bathroom, which has a large shower, toilet, sink, and plenty of space for bathroom stuff.
The Jungle Room Grande: The room contains 2 beds (a Queen size and a Single) and cools the air with both A/C and a ceiling fan.
Jungle Room Solo: This room contains one double bed, A/C with a ceiling fan and shelves for your personal items and hangers for your clothes.
The Jungle Surf Bunks: These are three identical rooms that have bunk beds and are cooled with A/C.
With one of Central America’s best beach breaks right outside our backyard, it is perfect for a Costa Rica surf vacation. Forbes Magazine ranked Santa Teresa, Costa Rica one of the top ten most breathtaking beaches in the world! Its lush tropical scenery, volcanic rock formations, an abundance of wildlife, and proximity to outdoor adventure activities make it one of the best beach towns in Costa Rica. Although The Jungle House is oceanfront, you cannot see the Pacific Ocean due to the dense foliage. To get to the beach & main surf break, it’s just a 5 minute walk to the ocean via a public path.
You’ll definitely feel that you’ve entered an exotic jungle since it is common to see many species of animals in the backyard of the house, including groups of Howler Monkeys, iguanas, butterflies, and a variety of birds.
The setting is great for friends traveling together, families, and other groups. With the variety of activities available it is ideal for groups that want to spend a lot of time being active together. You can learn to surf, practice yoga, or participate in the many activities offered like, canopy tours, day trips to waterfalls, horseback riding, or just relaxing at the beach.
Everyone can come together to cook dinner at home. We have a big BBQ & picnic area, as well as an ample kitchen for making family style dinners. There is a fruit & veggie stand directly across the street & a supermarket, a 3 minute walk.
Amenities include A/C, ceiling fans all over the house keep it cool, and hot water. On the second level there is a small kitchen, 10 person leather couch, Wi-Fi internet, and ping pong table. Downstairs has a large, common kitchen, outdoor BBQ & picnic area, and a Yoga Studio/Rustic Style Large Hangout Rancho.
The main surf break is 5 minutes away and there are waves for all levels and abilities, warm water and air temps year round, and natural tide pools a few minutes away too. There is secured parking, and we’re conveniently located near small grocery stores, shopping, surf shops, and restaurants.
There is free access to wi-fi, use of the kitchen, BBQ, dining room, hammocks, and covered deck. The kitchen is ample with everything you need to cook, coffee maker, and blender for making smoothies.
Santa Teresa is a very cool, international town with many great restaurants. It is just a few minutes walking to all the action. There is more nightlife in Playa Carmen, about 10 minutes away in taxi.

Santa Teresa, Costa Rica at the southwestern corner of the Nicoya Peninsula is one of Costa Rica’s remaining off-the-beaten path cool spots. The Lonely Planet says “it has become one of Costa Rica’s most life affirming destinations. Here, the sea is alive with wildlife and is almost perfect when it comes to shape, color and temperature.” A funky, laid-back surfer town, full of expats from the U.S., Canada, Israel, Argentina, and across Europe; it was just a sleepy fishing village with 30 families as far back as 1985. People from around the world have seen its beauty and potential, and relocated here to start businesses & families, and create a unique community. You’ll find lots of great restaurants blending the freshest local ingredients & cuisine with European and international gastronomic tendencies. There are fun beach bars and great restaurants, some will even let you bring your own beer and wine. There are many interesting places to discover, and new things to try. Most people come here for surfing. Santa Teresa, Costa Rica boasts some of the world’s most consistent waves, and it doesn’t get too crowded out on the water either. Experts have several great surf spots around Santa Teresa to choose from and beginners can count on various surf schools with excellent, patient instructors to get them up and having fun before their Costa Rica surf vacation is over. Surfing is not the only activity in the Santa Teresa/Mal País area. The fishing is outstanding! The fisherman can also take you snorkeling. The exciting canopy tour along ziplines at the edge of Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve gives you a beautiful bird’s eye view of the area’s splendor. Yoga in Santa Teresa is a popular activity, and there are many excellent teachers and various classes to try out. Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a booming water sport that you can learn in Santa Teresa as well. Kayak fishing in Mal País harbor or cruising up the Río Bongo to see all kinds of wildlife is one of the funnest things you can do around Santa Teresa. Ask the manager to set up any of these activities for you. ATVs are the primary means of transportation for most residents, and rentals and extreme tours are readily available. Horseback riding along the beach and through the hills is a mellow activity that gives you a distinct perspective on things. And of course, just hanging out at the gorgeous award-winning beach with friends, meeting new people, and having beers in the shade of palm & almond trees is an all-time favorite. Santa Teresa is also family friendly and offers many options for family vacation rentals, and fun activities with children.

Had a great stay at jungle house. Great location close to stores, shops, beaches, and restaurants. Joe was a great host. I would highly recommend this place for anyone traveling.
Estuve en Jungle House durante una semana entera junto con 8 personas más y la pasamos espectacular. El lugar es precioso y la pasamos muy comodamente en la casa que es bastante grande y hermosa, donde la pasamos de maravilla. La casa se encuentra rodeada de árboles que lo hacen a uno sentir como en la selva y se encuentra solamente a 5 minutos de la playa Santa Teresa, en donde es perfecto para surfear, se observan atardeceres hermosísimos y la arena es muy blanca, por lo que es muy lindo lugar para estar. Fue el mejor lugar que pudimos elegir para pasar nuestras vacaciones.
