While some may compare San Diego’s Mission Beach to the East Coast’s Atlantic City and Coney Island, there is a unique Southern California vibe you can’t find anywhere else here. Nestled between Pacific Beach on the north side, and Belmont Park on its southern side, Mission Beach offers a lively and robust variety of activities in the sun, surf and sand. From hot dog stands to fine dining eateries, hot night clubs to street performers, expect to find all kinds of free-spirited beach goers in a fun, carnival-like atmosphere along the sandy shores.
Mission Beach is a community built on a sandbar between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay. It is part of the city of San Diego, California. Mission Beach spans nearly two miles of ocean front.
Most of the action in Mission Beach centers around Belmont Park at the intersection of Mission Blvd. and West Mission Bay Drive where you can ride the historic Giant Dipper roller coaster, or rent a set of rollerblades to ride up and down the boardwalk. This is where all walks of life all go out for a walk, a ride, a roll, a stroll, a surf, a beer or a bite to eat - or simply to watch other people out doing their thing.
South Mission Beach offers a slower pace from the lively activity in the Belmont Park area. There are some great spots for fishing at the end of the road at South Mission Beach Park, where you can cast off the jetty and watch the boats pass in and out through the Harbor Channel. You'd never know it to look, but a half-mile off the coast are a series of shipwrecks, placed here to create an artificial reef and a diver's haven for underwater exploration.

I stayed here for two months while on a job transfer to the San Diego area. It was a dream to stay so close to the beach (less than 99 steps to the sand) and the bay. 99 Steps worked with my employer to secure a good rate and I really hate to leave. This is a large, clean, well appointed apartment I could easily live in forever.
Both my husband and I had a great time at 99 Steps. We were there celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary and Linda helped make our time there extra special. (Thanks again Linda;) It honestly was the ideal location.. close to everything; bike shops across the street, bars and restaurants are all a short walk away and of course having the beautiful sandy beach steps away made our stay even more incredible. I know we will definitely be returning to San Diego more than our usual yearly visit. We were both so sad to leave.. the apartment really was in an unbelievable spot. I miss the beach already :/ Thanks again!!
Thank you so much....we had a wonderful stay in this very comfortable clean cozy rental. Location is great and an easy few steps to the beach and bay. We did not need anything...just clothing and your own food. We had a little problem with water pressure in the bathroom basin and it was seen to the same day. Linda came round to greet us and is a wonderful warm person. If I ever come to Mission Beach again I will come and stay here. No need to have your own transport as public transport is very good and cabs are easy to flag down. The bus service is also very good and we had no problems getting around visiting different tourist attractions. We had an awesome stay here!
Such a great experience! The apartment was not only at the perfect location (right at the beach) but also very nice furnished and in good condition. Linda was very nice to us! She welcomed us perfectly and helped out wherever she was able. We were in nice contact even before our stay! I'd come back to this place and stay with her any time!
