Dating from 1790, this beautifully restored building is set in 6 acres of pristine lawns, flower beds, a woodland garden and a walled orchard. Beautifully restored, with exposed stone walls and oak beams. Ideally located for a touring holiday of the West of Ireland, it is 45min drive to Shannon Airport, 45min to The Burren and less than an hour to Galway. This charming Coach House is the perfect location for a family vacation. The rustic feel of exposed stone, oak beams and antique furniture transport you back to a bygone era. Located on the pristine lawns, and magnificent gardens of Meelick House, this is truly a unique property. This part of East Clare is stunningly scenic. Quiet country roads lead to small harbours and lake inlets. A sense of history pervades the area. The landscape and wonderful light have attracted many artists to this part of Ireland. Although a peaceful and tranquil region, it makes an ideal base to visit many of the west of Ireland's most popular tourist attractions. The quiet roads and easy access to the lake are ideal for those looking for an activity based vacation. We can provide you with bicycles to cycle on the scenic country roads, or take the Meelick House fishing boat across the lake to Garrykennedy for lunch. Or a boat trip to Holy Island and it's 6th Century monastic settlement. We also have a kayak, which you can take for a leisurely paddle on the lake. It is just a short stroll to the local village of Whitegate, where you can enjoy good local food with a pint of Guinness. The local pubs usually have traditional Irish music at the weekend. There are several golf courses within easy reach, and you can borrow a set of clubs if needed. Or perhaps you would prefer to relax in the spacious living room in the Coach House and watch The Quiet Man, or Ryan's Daughter on the video projection system. As well as a large DVD library, we also have a large selection of music, and a library of books, many of Irish or historic interest.
