Set in three quarters of an acre of established totally private garden you have plenty of areas to relax and unwind. It boasts a large private pool ( 10m x 5m) with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas as well as shade from the trees. Spread over 3 floors there is plenty of space to accommodate 12 plus 2 extra in the annex.
The picturesque and relatively compact medieval city of Cahors is just 20 minutes away where you will find several large hypermarkets and everything you’d expect to find in the administrative center of the Lot Department. Every year Cahors hosts the world renowned Blues and Jazz Festival which attracts acts from all over the world. It’s famous also for the Malbec wine and Pont Valentré (built in 1308) which has been listed as a historic monument since 1998 and registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the pilgrimage road to Santiago de Compostela.
This part of France boasts one of the lowest population densities in Europe. It has no heavy industries and consequently has a very clean and unspoilt environment and virtually no light pollution which makes star-gazing even more breathtaking.
The local cuisine is also famous for duck, truffles and wild mushrooms and in spring you can easily find over 20 varieties of rare orchids and wild flower meadows are everywhere.
The House
Master Bedroom: Sleeps 2 Kingsize bed. Ensuite bathroom which includes a brand new shower, bath, sink, toilet and built in wardrobe. It is situated on the middle level next to the living area.
Children / Family room – includes 2 bunk beds (sleeping four) plus 2 single beds (sleeping 2). It also has a wardrobe and clothing storage
Bedroom 1 (upstairs): Double bed with built in wardrobe
Bedroom 2: Double Bed (or 2 singles depending on set up) with a new ensuite bathroom including large shower and double sink. There is a separate toilet as well. Situated on the lower level.
Studio Annex: Sleeps 2 – double bed. It includes an ensuite bathroom. It also has a wood fire stove. The annex is perfect for couples with a young child to have their own quiet corner or perhaps some older teenagers who wish more independence. It has direct access to the garden.
The family bathroom is shared by the Family Room and Bedroom 1 and the Annex and shares a bathroom with Bedroom 2 but there is also a separate WC.
The ground floor boasts a very large modern fitted kitchen with brand new appliances including a Lacanche stove and oven, dishwasher, fridge, (there is a large freezer available in Barn) plus Nespresso Coffee machine and toaster. There is a separate utility room downstairs.
Leading from the kitchen is the comfortable living room with 2 double settees. It has a large television and satellite TV (French) but not Cable. This house boasts so many original features including a lovely fireplace. WiFi is free. The dining can seat 6 people but there is an even larger table outside in the barn which can easily seat 12 people – perfect for eating al fresco during the lovely warm summer evenings.
There is secure parking for one car in the garage next to the house but there is additional parking across from the house which can park several cars as this piece of land also belongs to the property.
Outside you will find a large barn which houses a large freezer and Webber BBQ. There is also a trampoline (with surrounding safety net) perfect to keep the children busy while you relax around the pool while admiring the beautiful gardens.
All in all Le Manoir Schneury provides superb quality accommodation and is a perfect base in which to explore the stunning local countryside and both the Lot and Dordogne rivers are easy to get to with plenty of places to hire canoes. There are several of the prestigious ‘Villages of France’ nearby including Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (which has been voted France’s most beautiful village) and Rocamadour (one of the Grand Sites of France and a UNESCO World Heritage Site) which is one of France’s most important tourist destinations.. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to things to see and do in this unspoilt corner of Southwest France.
